USATF JR Olympics Region 1 Championship-Long Island, NY
On Friday July 12th Henry Thanh-Nguyen got things started off in the 3000-meter with a 6th place finish in a PR time of 10:48.86

On Saturday July 13th we start off with the High Jump. Emanuele Doyki placed 4th at 1.80 meters, Rodney Maldonado placed 6th with a 1.75-meter PR, and Soray Durham placed 7th with a 1.40-meter PR. Soray then came back in the 400-meter placing 9th with a 69.77 PR.
In the Long Jump, Emanuele Dokyi placed 6th with a 6.18-meter PR and Eric Shimiyimana placed 8th with a 6.17-meter jump.

On Sunday July 14th, with temperatures at 90 degrees at 9:00 AM, the STORM came across Long Island.
In the Shot Put, Yoofi Abaka “STORMED” back to Long Island to claim the Silver Medal in the Shot Put at 13.59-meter PR and a trip to the JR Olympic National Championships.

The Girls 4×100 Relay took the Gold with Miarah Williams, Kayli Fernandez, Shawna Thomas, and Katherine Defosse. Katherine filled in at the last minute and raced strong.

Now the Triple Jump was dominated by the “STORM” with 3 of the Top 5 performances.
Emanuele Dokyi earned the Gold with a 13.52-meter PR, Eric Shimiyimana took the Bronze in 3rd at 13.07-meters, and Rodney Maldonado placed 5th at 12.58-meter. All 3 guys Qualified for the JR Olympics National Championships in Sacramento in 2 weeks.
